The Flyover is back open after work to connect the first segment to the second was completed September 23. It now extends from Ohio Street Beach over Grand and Illinois Streets, Ogden Slip and DuSable Park. The Flyover connects to the sidewalk on the lower level of Lake Shore Drive just north of the north bridge house.

Crews continue to work on the second and third segments, which involve retrofitting the existing Lake Shore Drive bridge with a cantilever structure on the east side. This will allow for widening the trail to eliminate the existing bottlenecks on the path. The project also involves structural and mechanical repairs to the movable bascule bridge.
